Bar counter surface TONALITE METAL40
Barbella new generation
Carlo Oriente
The unique position of the cocktail station, on the same axis as one of the big glass doors providing access to the structure, creates a scenic background of great importance for the visual perspectives of the entire premises, and so I was looking for a surface covering with character that would be capable of dialoguing with the teal and brass present in various forms in the spaces.
A big bottle rack made of brass and black walnut against a teal background and four big lamps in the same colour, with sheet metal lampshades and frayed silk fringes inspired by vintage bedside lamps frame a bar counter of metallic tiles with 3D textures laid in a herringbone pattern.
The cocktail bar project guidelines required the bar to be covered with a herringbone pattern, but not in a dominant colour, so that it would stand out while blending into its surroundings. Tonalite Metal 40 tiles were the perfect answer.
The variety of textures available for the metallic finishes of Tonalite Metal40 tiles, in contact with light, whether natural or artificial, liven up the bar counter with intriguing reflections and shadows. This type of iridescent, irregular surface stands out in the view of the space as a whole while maintaining constant material and chromatic references to the remaining elements of the composition, brass, teal and black walnut.
