Examatt and Exabright shiny and matt white wall tiles
Before I immersed myself in the project, I decided that the tiles in my home would be in a vintage style, with a retro simplicity that was not too exaggerated.
I chose the Examatt and Exabright collections by Tonalite, one with an irregular matt texture and the other with an irregular shiny texture, perfect for creating the right balance of character and elegance I had in mind. Above all, they had a characteristic hexagonal shape that recalled old tiles of the past. It’s a small house, so I preferred to have the same type of tiling in both bathrooms and the kitchen, experimenting with different matches and combinations. In the kitchen I have shiny tiles with irregular surfaces and in the ground floor bathroom (which doesn’t have a window and is lit only by the glass bricks that separate it from the kitchen) I choose all white, alternating shiny and matt tiles. The only concession to colour is in the bedroom, where white matt wall tiles contrast with a striking multi-coloured floor. My extra touch? Dark grouting, to contrast with the total white tiles.
