What were your objectives when you chose the materials to be used for your floor or wall coverings?
I wanted to create a contrast to the Green/Blue/Sea Green combination of the cabinets and shower tiles. I also wanted to use the Hexagon shape and when I came across the Black Matt look it reminded me of the Ocean Floor. I wanted to create a calming Spa feel to the bathroom, almost like the depths of the ocean with names like “Deep Sea Dive” (cabinet color from Sherwin Williams), “Nara Pacifico” (Shower Wall Tiles) and using these tiles on the floor seemed the best pairing for the theme as well as with the Green, White & Gold in the room.
What made you choose the Tonalite products?
I was looking for the right size Hexagon Tiles and from the onset I was looking at the Tonalite product since the quality of the tiles were very good, had a sophisticated look to it. I had two choices for the floor, the Blue Esamarine and the Exanuance Nero Black. I finally went for the black as the room felt more grounded when I saw the change of products in the 3D sketch.
What colours and combinations did you choose, and how did you use them?
Since I wanted the Bathroom to feel like a Spa, I went for a combination of semi gloss, satin with matt finishes all over the room. So the obvious choice for the floor was the matt finish of the Nero Exanuance. The floor felt more well defined, it did not reflect light from the light coming from the window, which would not be desirable. I also did the walk test with the tiles. I brought in few samples of the tiles and laid it down and matt smoothness felt very good to walk on. Also the black matt would have a dramatic affect to the floor!
