Interior design: how to design a rustic kitchen with bold color contrasts and modern accents

Space, light, materials, textures, patterns and details are our formal tools. Our role is to respond to the brief, deciding how these interact with each other, the context and the users, to create functional and charismatic proposals. While we want our designs to have an important impact on the lives of the people who live them, they must adapt to and strongly reflect their personality.

The house is a flat in a completely renovated farmhouse in a historic centre, but close to the open countryside. The clients wanted a comfortable house with a ‘country house’ atmosphere that, while being modern in all its installations, also had character and something rustic about it. Hence the choice of a strong colour palette to characterise each room, while keeping white as the main colour to maximise brightness, and the choice of a mix of modern design pieces and vintage wooden furniture to warm the atmosphere.

Collection Senren‘s tiles were the perfect size we needed for the installation we wanted and offered us the tile quality we needed to match our budget.

We wanted a white splashback because the kitchen would be a beautiful deep blue, but not an optical white, giving the idea of a handmade tile, a bit irregular. The vertical ‘stack’ laying gives them a slightly more contemporary feel.
