What where your objectives when you chose the materials to be used for your floor or wall coverings?
The goal was to add a touch of originality and modernity to a space that is typically present in Arabian culture and normally has a strong Middle Eastern identity. The idea was to use high-impact flooring (Examatt) that contrasted with the simplicity of the other elements of the décor. This is definitely an unconventional floor which customers are sure to notice in a country like Oman. Silk tiles in the Gesso colour provided a neutral background for the fitted kitchen wall while retaining the character of the design. Silk tiles also seemed to be just the right compromise between the elegance of a designer product and the practicality of ceramic, with easy maintenance definitely offering an advantage in commercial spaces.
What made you chose the Tonalite products?
Tonalite products have an original design with a good price to quality ratio. They allow the client to add a touch of design to the space without excessive expense, and they are resistant and appropriate for use in commercial spaces with a high pedestrian traffic flow.
What colours and combinations did you chose and how did you use them?
The floor is covered with Examatt in combination with tamarind varnished oak parquet (not Tonalite). Examatt contrasts with the natural and bleached oak furnishings.
Gesso Silk tiles cover the kitchen walls, establishing continuity with the bleached oak furnishings. The only contrasting element here is the glossy finish, given an uneven look by the tiles’ diamond shape.
