  • Magma is a creative team created by Magdalena Bielicka and Maria Zrzelska-Pawlak – graduates of the Faculty of Interior Design and Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk.
Before they began working together, while still in college, they went “out into the world” not only to look for new inspirations and ways of design, but also for reliable technical preparation in design offices.

Maria, after studies at FH Mainz, worked at the Atelier Brueckner in Stuttgart, an office dealing with exhibitions and museology (Pavilion project at Expo ’08 in Zaragoza and the project of the Africa pavilion at Expo ’10 in Shanghai).
Next, she worked in the office of the Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas for nearly 1.5 years.

Magdalena, in turn, in 2008 began working in the office of OFIS Arhitekti, Ljubljana Slovenia. She worked there on a number of public utility buildings, residential buildings and interior projects (including a hotel lodge complex in Maldives, an academic complex in Paris, a mixed-use high-rise building in Tehran).
Since graduation, they have been working together not only on interior design, furniture or architecture, but also on graphic design, exhibition and fashion (including the Logo of the Emigration Museum in Gdynia).

What where your objectives when you chose the materials to be used for your floor or wall coverings?

Contrast and balance was our main objective.

We were looking for beautiful and timeless materials that will make strong visual effect the same time. Our investors were dreaming about strong colour statement in their new flat and Nuance Salvia tiles stole their heart from the first glance!

What made you chose the Tonalite products?

We decided to use Tonalite products because we loved their colour and structure- Salvia Nuance tiles are the same time very subtle and expressive. Additional advantage was the size giving the opportunity to be used in many patterns, what we also used.

What colours and combinations did you chose and how did you use them?

The main bathroom quite small so we decided to use just one Salvia colour but play with the different patterns. The floor was chosen as a contrasting surface using geometric black and white Winckelmans mosaic.
Other materials you can spot in this room is Carrara marble, taek wood and brass.
